Please read these Terms carefully before using CollegeLens. By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
About CollegeLens
CollegeLens is a free educational platform designed to help students, parents, and guardians understand, compare, and plan for college funding. The Platform provides tools to:
- Compare estimated college costs using publicly available U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard data.
- Upload and analyze financial aid award letters to visualize total cost of attendance, funding gaps, and estimated borrowing.
- Build a personalized college funding plan based on information you provide.
- Access educational content, articles, and resources related to student loans, scholarships, and financial aid.
Eligibility
The Platform is intended for use by individuals who are at least 13 years of age. By using CollegeLens, you represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 13 years old, or you are a parent or legal guardian using the Platform on behalf of a minor.
- You have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.
- Your use of the Platform complies with all applicable laws and regulations.
If you are under 18, we encourage parental involvement in your use of the Platform. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.
User Accounts and Sessions
CollegeLens uses a lightweight session-based account system. You may begin using the Platform without creating a formal account; however, certain features — including saving a funding plan, accessing your dashboard, and viewing prior results — require you to authenticate your session by providing a valid email address.
3.1 Account Responsibility
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your session credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at support@collegelens.ai if you suspect unauthorized access.
3.2 Account Accuracy
You agree to provide accurate and current information when using the Platform and to update that information as necessary. Providing false or misleading information may result in termination of your access.
3.3 One Plan Per Session
Each authenticated session is associated with one active funding plan. You may start a new plan at any time; however, prior plan data may be overwritten unless you save and access your account before doing so.
Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Platform only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:
- Use the Platform for any fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading purpose.
- Upload award letters, documents, or data that do not belong to you or that you are not authorized to share.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Platform, its servers, or connected systems.
- Use automated scripts, bots, scrapers, or other automated means to access or collect data from the Platform.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Platform.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Platform.
- Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
- Use the Platform in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair it.
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access for any violation of this section without prior notice.

5.2 How We Use Your Data
We use the information you provide solely to:

5.3 What We Do NOT Do With Your Data
We may share data with trusted service providers who assist us in operating the Platform (such as cloud infrastructure providers), but only under strict confidentiality obligations and only to the extent necessary to provide the service.
We may disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of CollegeLens, its users, or the public.
5.4 Award Letter Data
Award letters you upload contain sensitive financial information. This data is processed solely to generate your funding plan analysis and is not shared with or sold to any third party. You may request deletion of your uploaded data and account at any time by contacting us at support@collegelens.ai.
5.5 Data Retention
We retain your account and plan data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide Platform services. You may request deletion of your data at any time. Aggregate, anonymized, non-identifiable data may be retained indefinitely for platform improvement purposes.
5.6 Cookies and Local Storage
The Platform uses browser local storage and session identifiers to maintain your session state between visits. We do not use third-party tracking cookies for advertising purposes. You can clear your browser local storage at any time, which will reset your session.
Third-Party Data — College Scorecard
Cost comparison data displayed on CollegeLens is sourced from the U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard, a publicly available federal database. This data is provided for informational and educational purposes only.
- College Scorecard data reflects federal reporting by institutions and may not be current, complete, or applicable to your individual situation.
- Not all schools report all data fields to the College Scorecard. Missing fields are indicated on the Platform and do not imply any deficiency in the institution.
- CollegeLens does not independently verify, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy of College Scorecard data.
CollegeLens has no affiliation with the U.S. Department of Education. All College Scorecard data is used in accordance with the applicable federal open data policy.
Educational Purpose — Not Financial, Legal, or Tax Advice
Cost estimates, gap analyses, monthly repayment projections, and funding recommendations generated by the Platform are approximations based on the data you provide and publicly available information. They are not guarantees of actual costs, aid awards, or loan terms.
We strongly encourage you to consult with your school financial aid office, a licensed financial advisor, or other qualified professional before making any major financial decisions regarding your education.
CollegeLens does not recommend specific lenders, loan products, or financial institutions. Any mentions of loan types (e.g., federal loans, private loans) are purely educational.

We do not claim ownership of your uploaded content.
8.3 Feedback
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Platform, you grant CollegeLens the right to use such feedback without restriction or compensation to you.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CollegeLens disclaims all warranties including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
Without limiting the foregoing, we do not warrant that:
- The Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

- Defects in the Platform will be corrected.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, COLLEGELENS AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the Platform, including but not limited to: loss of data, financial loss resulting from reliance on Platform estimates, unauthorized access to your data, or decisions made based on Platform content.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to the Platform shall not exceed the greater of (a) $100.00 or (b) the amount you paid, if any, to access the Platform in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via email or a prominent notice on the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

Upon termination, your right to use the Platform will immediately cease. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — shall survive.
Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the State of Nevada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any legal action arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Clark County, Nevada (Las Vegas).
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall first be addressed by contacting us at support@collegelens.ai to attempt informal resolution. If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be resolved by binding arbitration in Las Vegas, Nevada, under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction in Clark County, Nevada.
You agree that any claims must be brought individually and not as part of a class action or representative proceeding.
